About WWPI
Headquartered in Vancouver Washington, the Western Wood Preservers Institute is an organization that has represented the interest of the pressure treating wood products industry throughout western North America for more than 50 years.
WWPI Purpose Statement
To support and sustain the production and use of treated wood
products manufactured in western North America.
WWPI Mission Statement
It is the WWPI mission to protect and promote the manufacture
and markets for preservative treated wood products produced by
the industry in western North America. This shall be accomplished
through coordinated industry strategies, utilizing the best scientific
information available to:
A. Increase public and consumer appreciation and confidence
in our products and our industry;
B. Secure reasonable and economic federal, state, provincial and
local environmental regulation regarding our products and processes;
C. Promote the development and application of codes, standards
and Quality Assurance programs to ensure products best meet
the needs of the users.
WWPI Environmental Code
Members of WWPI share the public concerns for a sound economy,
healthy environment and good stewardship of all natural resources.
To that end, the members strive to achieve the following principals:
To produce high quality products which, when used as intended,
will significantly extend the useful life of the treated wood
material.
To operate facilities in a manner which meets or exceeds applicable
federal, state or provincial regulations.
To support and utilize research aimed at developing products
and processes which are consumer and environmentally friendly.
To participate in the development of public regulations and
product standards which are based on sound scientific information
and balance the long term need for a strong economy and healthy
environment.
To actively support the reuse and recycling of treated wood
products.

Executive Director: Ted LaDoux (email)
Mr. LaDoux is responsible for managing the Institute's legislative,
regulatory and market outreach programs aimed at maintaining a
viable western treated wood industry. Prior to joining WWPI in 2003, LaDoux spent over 30 years working in the forest and wood products industries, both in the public and private sectors, dealing with a variety of timber resource and supply issues, international marketing activities and workforce development. He graduated in 1971 from Central Oregon Community College with an Associate of Science degree in Forest Technology.
Director of Marketing Services: Jerry Parks (email)
Mr. Parks manages the marketing programs and publications for
the Institute directed at educating consumers and promoting quality
treated wood in the marketplace. Joining the Institute in 1994,
Mr. Parks is a 1972 Business Administration graduate from Portland
State University. He spent over 20 years in the advertising,
marketing communications and public relations industry. As Vice
President of Pihas, Schmidt, Westerdahl Co. he worked extensively
with utility industry and wood products firms.
Operations and Meeting Manager: Jenny Franklin (email)
Ms. Franklin provides the bookkeeping, office management, data base maintenance
and meeting management coordination services for WWPI. Jenny has extensive office
management and secretarial experience.
Manager of Regulatory Affairs: Vacant
Assists with the management of the Institute's legislative and regulatory programs aimed at ensuring public laws and regulations affecting the wood treating industry are based on sound economics and science.
